  1. George Vernon Hudson invented modern Daylight Saving Time.
  2. DST stands for Daylight Saving Time not Daylight Savings time.
  3. To remember the DST, just remember this phrase "Spring forward, Fall back".
  4. Daylight Saving Time will be set one hour ahead at 2 a.m. on the second Sunday of March.
  5. And it will be set one hour back at 2 a.m. on the first Sunday of November.
  6. DST is followed to lose an hour during the "night" in Winter/Fall.
  7. (Between March, 2nd Sunday to November, 1st Sunday).
  8. And it is followed to gain (mainly for "Productivity") an extra hour during day.
  9. (Between November 1st Sunday to March, 2nd Sunday)
  10. A lot of energy is saved when Daylight Saving Time is adopted, like in lighting of our houses.
  11. Names of time zones in US will be changed from:
    • Eastern Standard Time to Eastern Daylight Time.
    • Central Standard Time to Central Daylight Time.
    • Mountain Standard Time to Mountain Daylight Time.
    • Pacific Standard Time to Pacific Daylight Time. 
  12. This year, Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday November 7, 2010 (set clocks back 1 hour). And it begins on Sunday March 13, 2011 (set clocks forward 1 hour).
  13. Arizona, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, the US Virgin Islands and American Samoa have opted not to observe DST.
  14. European countries observe a standardized European Summer Time, except Iceland.
  15. European Summer Time starts from the last Sunday in March and ends on the last Sunday of October.
  16. Hours of Daylight don't vary much at the Equator, so most of the African countries don't follow DST.
  17. During World War I, Germany was the first country to “Spring Forward and Fall Back” in 1915.
  18. US implemented Daylight Saving Time through Standard Time Act in 1918.
  19. There would be some negative impact on health, by losing one hour of sleep.
